ABOUT
US
XLD
CARDS ™ has actually been an active business since 2000 DBA
as Desert Publishing. We just recently acquired the domain name www.xldcards.com
and have just built this web site under the new domain name.
Our
publishing and print business has operated under other domain names
over the years as we have grown the business into what it is today.
Our primary original goals were to build our business of manufacturing
and duplicating CD disk of our own to save on the expense and time
lapse issues of having disk printed and produced for us.
As
graphic artist and publishers, producing many thousands of individual
art pieces over the years, along with working to invent new ways to
produce digital media and package it, the idea of creating greeting
cards with digital media inside was born. We not only produce greeting
cards with CDs in them, we have expanded our greeting cards to also
include USB keys that are thin enough to still be shipped as a greeting
card in a normal envelope.
Our
original business started out in programming screen savers, ebooks,
how to books, and also producing thermal formed plastic products.
We produced many thousands of decorative stepping stone molds, chocolate
molds, soap molds, and many other products made from plastics. The
concept of producing multimedia and other digital programs on disk
and marketing them was not a major part of our business until recently.
We
discovered a very effective way to assist fundraising organizations
and individuals in growing traffic to their web sites and adding another
line of income to their overall financial plan. As the traffic building
part of our CD disk production was obviously becoming extremely effective,
it was decided to launch this dedicated web site to take advantage
of this new trend by giving much added value to our gift greeting
card business.
Many
greeting cards have small electronic devices in them that make fun
music and other noises. But as with all greeting cards, they eventually
get discarded shortly after the recipient receives them.
Part
of our business plan was to create gift greeting cards that would
provide something of real value that would last for many years and
be useful to the recipient. Not to mention that many people actually
frame and display our artistic greeting cards in their homes. It also
became obvious that due to the very nature of greeting cards, they
could provide a way to expand the exposure to our programs and other
media all over the USA and other parts of the world.
People
ask us all the time what XLD stands for in our business name. It actually
stands for Xtreme Link Distribution. As our digital media included
with our greeting cards is specifically designed to lead people back
to our web site and provide a solid way for fundraising organizations
of all sizes.
